Start-Up Day 2012 in Stockholm energized and inspired! As the Tripbirds’ Ted Valentin said - something has happened in Startup Stockholm during the last months. It is great to see and be a part of such a vibrant start-up community in Stockholm and Sweden!
A sold-out conference on a Saturday morning - the day better be good was our thought on the way to Debaser Medis! And it couldn’t have started off better than with Frank Meehan (@frank_meehan inspiring the audience with examples of successful start-ups he has been working with. Sometimes speakers like him make it look so simple and easy. Nothing wrong with that its just that far to often people forget about the hardships, the sleepless nights, the many never released products and all the beta versions that never took off… It’s all part of the game and usually the really inspiring stories are those of mistakes and failures made on the road to success.
The Startup Kids (@Startupkids) documentary, presented by the cool Islandic entreprenours, Vala Halldorsdottir (@valgerdur) and Sesselja Vilhjalmsdottir (@sesseljav), takes pup those angles and it will really be fun to see if the startup rockstars (the likes of Daniel Ek and such) have told the less glamourous side of the story as well.
A women-only panel discussion on community management - very refreshing! An interesting thought we are focusing a lot at ourselves at Burt is how to handle different languages as well as engaging several people within the company in community work! Gotta give thumbs again for Wrapp-Lisa (@enckelli) here because she really got the debate going. Pernilla from Mynewsdesk summarized her thoughts in a very useful blog post here.
To sum up other highlights of the day:
- Fulfilling a basic human need and solving a simple daily life problem is the key!
- Things almost never go according to plan
- Wrapp really was on everybody’s lips all day long - will be really interesting to follow their journey
- Focus on details just not too many of them
These are just some thoughts from the day. All the talks have been streamed live and will be uploaded as videos within a week.. stay tuned for updates:)
