    BURT ❤ Norway by danielalman

Besides the many trips between our offices in Stockholm and Gothenburg our second most visited city must be Oslo. We have signed some great deals there, adding more customers to the previously signed Nettavisen and Finn.no (read more about them in the official press release).

But the best thing with Norway is all the people we’ve been meeting, and the enthusiastic conversations we’ve had on how to make the Internet advertising experience better. Even though the Swedish market has been our natural focus we’ve had our eyes on Norway for some time.

They are smaller, but they also move quicker. Changes to the way the media market is ruled and managed are already in motion, the very same changes we have been recommending in Sweden.

Nothing excites us more than seeing these actions bring success in Norway, where media is already achieving higher profits per reader and advertisers seem more satisfied with their investments. The beauty of the publishing market in Norway is that the crucial stakeholders are well aware of the great potential that online media is offering, and are able to act past profit-only individual interests in order to turn the whole market on it’s head and compete together for a larger share of the brand advertising budgets.

Thanks to the effort and the leading role that INMA (Norwegian IAB interest organisation) and its members have had since the beginning of the century, the Norwegian publishers seem to be at the forefront of embracing the shift that many have been predicting for a while.

Quite a few of the 2011 concluding reports and trend predictions have been pointing at the shift in media spending following the user behaviour and thereby the great potential that online media still has compared to the traditional print and TV spending. INMAs own figures on display ads turnover for January 2012 confirm the trend for the Norwegian market showing a 15% increase compared to January 2011. With that being said the market is more than ready for us :)

Our CEO, Gustav von Sydow has been presenting at INMAs dedicated Display Group meet up taking place twice a year, sharing Burt mindset and vision for the future of display advertising in the media landscape. You can watch the video here (only in Swedish).

Another trip to Oslo next week and hopefully we’ll be able to report more details on the Norwegian success and some very interesting collaborations (yeah we’re being a little bit secretive here) in the very near future! Vi elsker dette land!
