Looking to hire: BigData wizard by vajna

Burt is looking for an distributed computing and data storage engineer. You should love big data and cluster computing, especially in the context of solving large-scale, real-world problems that improve our core products. An interest in teaching and enabling coworkers with this technology is ideal. The ideal candidate will dream about distributed systems for the parallel processing of massive quantities of data, be familiar with Hadoop/Pig/HBase and MapReduce, and frequently think to themselves, “Yeah, that works for 500 MB of data; what about 500 TB?” This position is full-time and based in our main office in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Working for a startup is fun and fast paced. If you haven’t experienced it before, it’s like no job you’ve ever had. If you’re full of energy you’ll quickly find that this is a wonderful place to let all that energy out. Our employees create their roles, instead of us creating them for them.
    Responsibilities
Work on the scalability, resilience, and efficiency of backend components, particularly Hadoop.
Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa.
Work with data analysis to construct creative solutions for supporting Burt’s products.
Optimize our infrastructure at both the software and hardware level.
Focus on scaling horizontally rather than vertically.
Debug runtime problems and understand the interactions between systems,
Build systems, libraries, and frameworks within, around, and on top of Hadoop.
Code using primarily Java, Scala, and Python/Ruby.
    Preferred experience
BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Experience with large-scale Hadoop clusters is a big plus
Experience or interest in distributed network systems
Knowledge developing and debugging in C/C++ and Java on *nix
Experience developing with Python, Ruby, or PHP
Experience with filesystems, server architectures, and distributed systems
Deep knowledge of a compiled language
